The 2010 U.S Census process has begun. In order to protect residents from becoming victims of identity theft and fraud the Loveland Police Division recommends residents follow the guidelines listed below.
·         The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census involves the verification of household addresses across the nation.
·         Currently U.S. Census workers are making personal visits to residents in the area. In the future U.S. Census workers may also be contacting residents in person, by mail, or by telephone. The Census Bureau will not contact residents by email.
·         An official U.S. Census worker will be carrying an identification card, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice.
·         Before answering any questions ask to see the worker’s identification card.
·         Never invite anyone you are unfamiliar with into your residence.
·         U.S. Census workers will be gathering information about each person living at each residence including name, age, gender, race, and basic financial information.
·         The only information that you need to tell the U.S. Census worker is how many people live at the residence.
·         Do not give out Social Security numbers, credit card or bank information.
·         U.S. Census workers will not solicit donations.
